On June 25th we brought you "Dirty Laundry", a song by the talented Carley Varley, from Bournemouth. It was while reading this article about this song about toxic relationships that Sonny Casey, from Ireland, thought it would be a good idea to send us her new single.

Of course, it was a good idea! Because the song is incredibly charged with emotion and fits perfectly with the emotional universe of IMC. Indeed, it's Sonny's turn to talk to us about these relationships that are more dangerous and toxic than anything. I already told you about it in the article about Carley Varley, I have this kind of relationship, not with my GF but with my mother.

So I am (in spite of myself) able to tell you how difficult it is to get rid of it and move on. But when all the evidence is there, you have to face the facts: the relationship is toxic, and ending it will do us more good than harm in the end.

With incredible delicacy, Sonny Casey describes these strange feelings. The desire that we have, to continue this relationship while keeping a glimmer of hope and telling ourselves that everything will be better tomorrow. And at the same time, the evidence that nothing will ever change if we don't make the right decision.

With a soft and warm voice, Sonny seduced us. No, I can even say "bewitched" and immediately took us into her musical universe. Originally titled "It’s Not Too Late", the song, which has now become "A Saving Grace" (after facing the obvious), the song can help you to open your eyes. Because when you are in this kind of situation, most of the time, you do not see anything. As if you were blind. And outside advice is often welcome. Like "a saving grace". But keep hope, because everything is always possible.

The Irish artist wanted to send a message, with this song: "if you're in something that makes you feel bad most of the time, it's probably because it is bad. You can't make someone happy if they're not happy with themselves. Happy, healthy love exists and you deserve it. Get out of there. It's not too late."

When your loved one goes away never to come back, you can feel completely devastated, and even "burnt", as Kindred Connection puts it so well in their new single.

Remember, we brought you the Italian duo in June with a very emotional song, "Some Kind of Dream".

Gabriele and Mattia did it again. Their new single, "What A Way", is released today, and benefits from a production that sounds a little more electronic on its final part than the previous single.

But the strong emotions are still there and the emotional potential of this song is enormous. It is built over time and offers us a gradual rise in power until triggering the thrill. The melody is so catchy that we catch ourselves singing along quite quickly. And the chorus stays in mind, even several hours after listening. That's a pretty good sign!

About the song, the band said "we wrote this song while going through a really complicated moment in our life. On one side we tell the story of the end of a relationship, on the other we describe the emotions of a person who cannot feel at home in the place where he's living. "

Because this is indeed the biggest problem with a planned exile: it doesn't matter where you go, it won't erase your memory and you will take your problems with you. So maybe the best medicine is to find the best possible songs to cheer you up. That's what we try to do with passion, anyway.

Sometimes there are songs that get you on your way in just a few seconds. This is the case for the new single from Partland. As soon as we heard his voice, we knew we were going to tell you about this little gem.

Because from the intro, we felt all the emotional potential of this song, and we were not wrong. The song is built gradually, with choruses very charged in emotions until a wonderful and epic ending.

Coming from Galway (Ireland), Partland likes to play with the sometimes cinematic side of his songs. This one is about a love story that does not end exactly as we thought. And this relationship to cinema is very present in the track (hence its title). After all the adventures experienced by two characters in love, how does the relationship end? And after the credits? Once the light goes out, what happens?

Also, Partland made a stop-motion video for each song on his forthcoming album, "The Empty Atlantic". We can't wait to see the result for this song, because if it's as good as the sound, the visual will please us!

Promoting underrated artists has always been my passion, and I love to know a little more about them. That's why I always take the time to go to their Spotify and listen to what they've released before. I was blown away by the quality of every Partland song. And I was especially frustrated when I saw that he only had 19 monthly listeners. How is it possible?

Because honestly, I think Partland is one of my biggest favorites of the year. I know that I have already told you about people who were completely unknown (like Freya Ridings before she became a star) telling you that I strongly believe in them. Same for Partland: there is huge potential here for this artist and you will probably be glad you were among the first to hear from him.

It's totally a coincidence that, for the first time, we have two consecutive reviews for songs that have the same title. After having surprised you yesterday with Sonata Kay and her amazing single "Ghost", here is the return of Kylie Rothfield with ... "Ghost".

We introduced you to Kylie in May with her previous single "Everyone Else". It had already moved us a lot, although the single benefited from a much more electronic production than this one.

Back to more organic instruments and production for this new ballad, "Ghost", which is an incredible jewel filled with emotion, nostalgia, and regrets.

Kylie sings about a past love that haunts her in the city, no matter where she goes: "in a city full of ghosts, you're still the one that haunts me".

Always with a rather disconcerting vocal ease and a crystal clear voice, Kylie manages to trigger the shivers in us quite quickly.

And the artist always takes care of her appearance, accompanying the song with an incredible music video, showing magnificent contrasts of light between day and night, and staging the loneliness of the artist in the middle of this "city full of ghosts ".

After a romantic separation, we all experienced this feeling of immense emptiness, which it seems almost impossible to fill. The song will therefore speak to all those who have been there, but could also speak to those who have recently lost a loved one. It is often said on IMC that music is the cure for all our problems. I must admit that I have a few things in common with Jim McHugh. Yet this is only his first visit to IMC.

But in his album "My Nuclear Radio", released in 2019, there is a song called "Marjorie", in which he invites her to have more self-confidence. My GF being called Marjorie (you will find her in the "Team" section) and lacking in self-confidence, the song spoke to me immediately. So much for the anecdote.

But if we wanted to tell you about Jim today, it's for his new single "Her Love", taken from his latest album "Pretending to Wake Up" released this year.

The artist from Dublin left us with our mouths wide open. Like speechless. Bathed in a rather marked pop-rock universe, Jim imposes his delicacy and gentleness from the intro of "Her Love". What a voice!

A very deep voice, but which seems very comfortable and which is like a good friend whispering words of encouragement in our ears. When you reach the chorus, you realize the incredible extent of the artist's vocal abilities. Here he goes in magnificent acute flights. Then he takes back his deep voice for the second verse. Without doing too much, nor falling into the demonstration, Jim makes us understand that we are dealing with a true music professional, who masters everything from A to Z.

As Jim told us, "this song is a poignant recounting of a loved one who passed away and details the hope that Her Love will return someday." Once you understand the meaning of the song, everything becomes clearer. The song gains in intensity minute after minute, as if the connection with the afterlife is becoming more obvious.

The bridge becomes mysterious with a gradual rise in power until ... the final explosion and incredible fireworks that raised our arms vertically. We only had to close our eyes to imagine ourselves hugging a loved one who has passed away. And time stopped.

It is true that I tend to like gradual ramp-ups to an epic ending. But here ... I admit that I wasn't expecting that!

Surprising, astonishing, this new single from Jim McHugh is a rare pearl that we are delighted to welcome in our kingdom of emotions. Thank you, Sir. We are addicted.

It is with great pleasure that we welcome Jacqueline Loor for the fifth time on IMC (and we can tell you that 5 visits in 3 months can be considered as a record!).

But this is not our fault, there's an addictive side to Jackie. Once you have discovered her music, it becomes very difficult to do without.

Last month, she released the single "Burn It Down", which made an appearance on the TV series "Batwoman", which helped her get Shazams, and therefore streams. That was to evoke the magical power of TV. Now, let's talk about the magical power of Jacqueline Loor.

Just as cinematic as the previous single, "I'm Done With You" is what you might call "the most incendiary breakup letter of the year". Like a message sent directly to its recipient, the song has the effect of a grenade. With very calm verses, and powerful choruses, Jackie masters emotions, and variations of intensity like no one else. If we take a closer look, the text is quite short. Simple-minded people will tend to think that the artist is lazy when they see so little text. But when the text is intelligently distilled, and delivered in small doses, the effect is even more "wow".

Again, the production is almost worthy of a Hollywood movie. The emotional yet powerful voice of our singer from Tenerife is always at ease, no matter the variations of intensity. The message gets through, with a lot of emotion.

While the lyrics are relatively sad and the track bathes in a rather dark atmosphere, that's what makes Jackie so charming: she doesn't cheat.

And we don't cheat either by telling you that we can count to 5. So Jackie is now a member of the IMC Family. Welcome!

Last month, Ben Stafford, from Lancashire, UK, released his debut album called "Poetry". And we can say that this album is like an open book where you will learn more about the hardships recently experienced by the artist. Indeed, his album is like a collection of poems that evoke deep wounds, each with its own universe.

When I heard the first notes of "All I Want", I savored the first seconds of the guitar... then I closed my eyes. And immediately... the pictures came to my mind. I found myself teleported to a beach, hanging out with some friends where we were supposed to support a friend who is in trouble. And during the sunset, this friend, who has suffered a lot in recent times, turns the situation around by taking out his guitar and starting to sing. And all our certainties collapse. Hearing this gem, "All I Want", we all realize that in reality our friend no longer needs help. He's all fine now. And just offering us a magical moment of confession and art. Just for us.

This is what I felt when my ears met Ben Stafford who is a friend of ... Taylor T, one of our artists from the IMC Family.

I have to admit that the guitar melody can sound a bit repetitive and might put off some people who are not curious or open-minded enough. But the beauty of the lyrics made me want to continue listening, and even to discover the 7 other jewels of this album.

Because, obviously, this guy is what I call a genius of words. It's not only about poetry and music. Without any artifice, just a guitar, and an incredible voice, Ben Stafford seduced us and you may hear from Ben again in the future on IMC.

Let's go to Jacksonville, FL, to meet Lost Club. The perfect mix between the warm guitars of The Strokes, and the dynamic indie-pop of The 1975.

We always have to research our artists before presenting them to you, and we have to admit that we don't find much on Nicholas Garcia, who makes music under the name Lost Club. A very mysterious character ... His Spotify bio is empty, as is his bio on Facebook. Nothing is known of his history. But I felt close to him pretty quickly.

Indeed, when I was 2 years old, my father started to install me regularly on a Yamaha synthesizer.

I think there were only ten possible tones, but for that time, it was already great. This synth followed me until I was 12, and my father put a pedal on it for me to be able to do special effects and create dynamic radio jingles.

Then I found this same synth a few months ago.

This is the one The Satellite Station used in his single "Caught In The Middle" released on November 6, 2020.

And now, here is a photo posted by Lost Club on his Instagram on September 6, 2020, sitting on the carpet, in front of that same Yamaha synthesizer. It immediately brought back childhood memories.

Even if I don't have it anymore for years, it seems like it doesn't want to leave me...

A little less electronic than his previous singles, Lost Club had fun with the guitars on this new track, which has everything of the perfect summer anthem.

The voice, very comfortable, and delicately slipped into a light but effective reverb sets the scene. Although the lyrics are quite melancholic, they contrast sharply with the very danceable and catchy melody.

The production has incredibly high quality here. Worthy of the greatest. The vocal harmonies on the chorus are a real delight and you will be singing along in seconds.

We'll be watching Lost Club because we can't wait to find out what he has in store for us.

Sometimes there are decisions you need to make as an artist that will impact the next few years of your life. This kind of decision calls everything into question and turns a career upside down. I think Luke Potter's decision to take on the "HECKYL"'s project was the best decision of his life.

Of course, I already liked what he did before. But it seems like he found his way and his sound. And seeing my artists thrive in what they love is my greatest reward.

Here is a new single, for HECKYL, which offers a wonderful contrast between melancholic lyrics and an uplifting and catchy melody. Indeed, the lyrics evoke the emptiness and the absence felt after a breakup while the melody is rather full of colors and based on happy vibes.

You know, that kind of feelings when you were used to a person, in your day-to-day life and then ... nothing. The lyrics "I wake up, cold sweats, grab a drink and go back to bed then roll over to the side where you slept" particularly speak to me. It happens to me once in a while when my GF visits her parents across the country. Me too. Sometimes I roll onto my side where she was sleeping and it takes me hours to fall asleep. Of course, this is only short-lived because I know she will come back. In HECKYL's song, in this case, she won't come back. And this is where this sentence, cleverly placed at the end of the chorus, has even more impact.

Very well written, the song plunges us into those sleepless nights, after a breakup, where only questions fill the empty house. And, as already said before, with a striking contrast because the melody is rather an invitation to move forward.

On the production side, it's very, very well done: we can easily recognize HECKYL's touch here. Luke has succeeded in creating an entire musical universe around HECKYL, with somewhat retro synths present from the intro, but without overdoing artifice. The dosage is just ... perfect.

elkvilla is an Australian artist whom I really like. He had already seduced us at the very beginning of the year with "Stranger" and its catchy chorus.

Here he is back with a new single, "Just Kids", accompanied by a pretty female voice: Darby. The song is full of poetry, which makes you want to share breakfast with bread coming out of the oven, hearing birdsong.

Yet despite its cheerful and light-hearted appearance, the song is about a breakup. The two protagonists wish to move forward and only keep the good memories. As if to turn a page, all smoothly and delicately, Adam lengthens the words on the paper with disconcerting ease. Even the darkest of situations could become beautiful and bright, thanks to his colorful writing.

On the production side, it's very simple, it's definitely an acoustic track for fans of organic instruments, but the vocal harmonies sublimate the song with elegant notes. Another success for elkvilla. If you too have fallen in love with his musical universe, then you won't be surprised to see him again on IMC for a third feature.

I'm not going to hide it from you, as soon as I heard the voice of Izabelle, the singer of Nü Fiona, I immediately fell in love with their sound.

And her name wasn't totally unknown for us. Because she's also a solo artist under the name IZHAV and we wrote about her last EP recently. Small world, isn't it?

We all have sounds that bring back beautiful memories. Personally, I followed for almost twenty years a Swiss band called Lunik, whose singer Jaël has exactly this kind of voice which immediately puts you in confidence, and which comforts in just a few notes.

Of course, we wish this Swedish band the same long career as Lunik, it would be deserved. Because their new single "For The Ones I Love" is a real jewel of beauty.

Full of poetry, the song was written from a very creative point of view: a soul speaks to those she left behind after death. A very cinematic hearing experience thanks to a final part extremely loaded with emotions (as we like) and an incredible climax that triggered the shivers.

When I heard the falsetto in Kat Kennedy's voice, I got a little scared. I was like "oh, no, another doll with a pretty voice". It was a purely unconscious comment and I quickly regretted it when I discovered the emotional wave carried by this track.

Certainly, this type of falsetto is very present in today's music, but Kat Kennedy has a little extra: authenticity, and a sincere and heartwarming interpretation that makes all the difference.

After a breakup, the artist isolated herself in a base in Alaska, lost in her feelings, between the fact of miss the person and also the harsh cruelty of the fact that we must move forward. She then began to write and created this little jewel of beauty. With just a guitar and wonderful backing vocals hidden beneath the surface, Kat Kennedy wowed me in less than a minute. We are often told that life is full of ups and downs. Ryan's life started with a "down" when he was 5. He lost his mum to a drunk driver.

Raised by his aunt, whom he now calls "Mom", Ryan grew up and almost forgot all the memories of this terrible disaster. He just remembers that he felt numb.

Then, during the pandemic, he, like many of us, began to think. And to think of what his mom would have said to him at that moment. At the exact moment, when she left.

Thus was born "Not Coming Home", a wonderful song released on Mother's Day, and whose music video is released today. Ryan sent it to us on June 17th.

And I seriously think that, in over 20 years of promoting underrated artists, a song has never had such an impact on me. In less than thirty seconds, I, the 34-year-old, nearly 220-pound man, began to cry loudly in front of my screen. I felt this sadness come over me at breakneck speed. It was all over my body and I couldn't fight. So I let Ryan do it. It was already too late, anyway.

I often say to my artists "thank you for giving me the best job in the world", and I think some of them don't realize the impact they can have on other people's lives, just with some words, or a voice, or a music video, or all three at the same time. There are choices that we don't regret: quitting my job and dividing my income by four, for example, just for the sake of indie music. No regrets ... at all when I hear that kind of masterpiece!

I created Indie Music Center in order to give you strong emotions. It is not easy to find the rare pearl, the one that will make you vibrate, and that will give you chills. But I believe that on June 17th, I found THE ONE. It took me over thirty minutes to get over it, and I even needed a break outside in the storm. Then I went back to my office, upstairs, and read the wonderful article on Ryan's Mum Story on MADD's website. I invite you to read it, you will learn a little more about the birth of this incredible song.

Watched the music video for a second time, and it was really embarrassing because I started to cry again. And already after the first viewing, I had no more tissues.

Ryan knew how to find the right words, to express what his mother could have said to him at that moment. For me, he is simply a genius of creativity. A bit like Ben Greenberg who had written "Our Lady", from the point of view of the Hunchback of Notre-Dame who saw the cathedral burning in front of his eyes.

That kind of artist, who manages to transpose his mind into the mind of another person to tell a story or express emotions, are just geniuses. Ryan sent us 4 songs in 3 years, before this one, and each time I politely declined because there was a little emotional spark missing. And here is Ryan, again, and BAM. He gave me one of the biggest emotional slaps of my life. Like "Hey, I'm back, I heard what you said, I worked on the emotions, and look what I've done!". Hard work always pays off.

The incredible voice of Sofia takes you from the seventh second into a rather dark universe "I'm sorry you got trapped in my storm". A very cinematic and poetic universe.

And our long radio experience has also taught us that if a powerful and catchy chorus comes before the first-minute mark, a song has every chance of becoming a hit.

This exceptionally good chorus made us realize that we had a masterpiece between our ears and that we should not let it pass. With haunting and moving lyrics, Sofia succeeded in seducing us with delicacy.

Like a cry for help ("I need you in my life somehow"), Sofia reveals in "Need You Now" her deepest feelings and doesn't hide her regrets about this ruined love story.

It was at the very beginning of the year that we introduced you to Brandon, who makes music under the name Becoming Young. Already at that time, we knew that this artist had enormous potential, especially on the emotional side. And it seems that we were not the only ones to be seduced, because he is now approaching 150K monthly listeners on Spotify.

The artist recently dropped a 3 track EP, called "Letting Go" and "Auburn is one of those tracks. It's true that Becoming Young sent us" Auburn ", but we think it's important to talk about the whole EP because we were completely seduced! 3 tracks, 3 gems.

And each song has its own universe and its own advantages that make it so special. "Auburn" is a perfect opener, resolutely indie-folk, with beautiful backing vocals and a rather melancholy atmosphere, evoking the feelings of disaster after a breakup. The song slowly builds up to a breathtaking climax in the final part.
