Great Bitter Lake (previously known as "Forrest") is an indie-rock band from Martinez, CA that formed naturally when Hailie Hay (vocals/guitar) brought her collection of songs to Levi Matthews (synth/percussion/vocals) and Michael Kirk (guitar/vocals) for a small basement gig in Berkeley, CA.
The three connected with Manu Sawnhey (bass) before that debut performance and everything just seemed to fall into place.
With their roots in Hailie’s somber, singer-songwriter style, the band crafted a unique, melodic, and dynamic set of songs that reflects each band member’s personal taste in music.
The first release, Temper EP, has been released in April 2020. The same year, Hailie also offered a wonderful livestream on our Facebook page, playing live versions of a few tracks for our fans.
