Halocity - Wondering

February 02, 2022

In the life of a music blogger, there are thousands of voices that pass through his ears, day after day, month after month, year after year... But I don't think a voice has ever had such an effect on me. The voice of Alycia Willis, better known as Halocity, is incredibly emotional and carries auditory sensations that few artists are able to give you.

"Wondering" is an indie-pop ballad that mixes piano, violin, and effective percussion in a rather dark atmosphere. This contrasts with Alycia's warm voice, which tempers the final result. And this result is... breathtaking!

It's pretty easy for me, after 20 years of practice, to tell if a song is going to give me goosebumps or not. Just the piano intro had a powerful effect on me, but when Alycia started singing, I felt the shivers run through my whole body. And what's interesting about "Wondering" is that this first verse is only the beginning. As the instruments overlap, the power gradually builds up to an emotional explosion during the last minute.

Coming from Atlanta, the same city as our writer Joe Pope, the artist recorded "Wondering" in a home studio, before the track was sent off to California, where the talented producer David Bashford, gave him all its splendor. A track that has therefore traveled between several states of the United States and is now ready to cross all borders to offer the world a dose of sweetness and beauty.

Captivating, Alycia has managed to create a musical universe of her own. Dark and poetic, beautiful and elegant. A strong vocal identity, an endearing personality. An accomplished artist, who blossoms through her music, and you can hear it.

About the song, Alycia told us that it was "about the thoughts that swarm our head when we go through some sort of breakup or even loss. Wondering why things always come to an end and how much of it seems to be our fault". When the fog invades our thoughts, it is not always easy to navigate.

But Alycia has a comforting optimism: "Through the darkness is where we find the light." And it is true that after the first listen, you feel soothed. As if freed from a certain weight. Isn't the power of music amazing?

The song has also caught the attention of our other writer Luna, who could offer you this song in an upcoming episode of her podcast "Why Doesn't Everyone Know These Songs?". The circle is complete, Halocity remains under our radar for its next releases, and "Wondering" is already a must-have, to listen to several times a day on our radio station.

What's hardest to believe is that "Wondering" is a debut single. You will only find this song on Halocity's Spotify. The artist already has all the maturity of the greatest, and this song is only the beginning of a great career. We invite you to follow her adventures, whether on Spotify or her social media because she might surprise you again. We can't wait to discover the rest of her musical projects!
