Woodlock - We Gotta Go

March 09, 2022

We think Woodlock, this wonderful trio from Australia, didn't expect their new song "Gotta Go" to appeal to everyone so much. Indeed, the song was written a little while ago, at a time when we still didn't know anything about the situation that was going to loom in Europe. And yet, a few weeks later, the song takes on a new meaning.

Originally written to describe this feeling of both wonder and fear that invades us when we leave the countryside for the city, the song today appears heartbreaking when we cannot help associating it to these images of families forced to leave their homes because of the madness of a single man. Who could have imagined such a situation, after the two years of madness that we have just gone through?

With a soft and pleasant vocal performance, punctuated by magnificent but discreet vocal harmonies, "We Gotta Go" is an alt-folk ballad that reflects the state of mind of its authors, thanks to urban sound effects at the end of the track. Quite subtle but effective production elements.

About the song, the band said: “We had this idea of how when you first move to the city, especially coming from a country town, there's this feeling of awe and wonder as well as a bit of anxiety and fear. It's so big and new, and it's one of the most uprooting feelings you can go through, at least for us anyway.

Very emotional, and even more now (we would even go so far as to say heartbreaking), this new single is a little gem that will appeal to saxophone lovers who feel that this warm instrument has disappeared from the radio landscape. The production quality is nothing but professional. Expect to see Zech, Eze, and Bowen again on IMC cause these guys definitely caught our attention and we can't wait to hear more!

Reach out to Woodlock
